Columbus Day Weekend — with HONK, Oktoberfest, Boston Public Market and Columbus Day Parade

Since my parents were back in Chicago this year instead of in Boston, I spent my first Columbus Day (or as New Englanders call it, Indigenous Peoples Day) weekend without them. It was so much fun to spend time with Mia while everyone else was home.

Sunday was our biggest adventure and we started by walking into Cambridge and spending some time at the Honk Parade and Oktoberfest celebration. Even though we are both at least 21 years old, we did not drink any beer. It was a lot of fun and Harvard Square was really packed with booths and people all over themselves.

Out of my request, we later headed into Boston for the Columbus Day Parade. In even years, it is in East Boston and in odd years it is in the North End. Due to some construction, trains were bypassing Haymarket so we got off at Government Center instead and walked to Boston Public Market. Mia got a seseme bagel with cream cheese and I got a cup of New England Clam Chowder. After that, we walked to the Christopher Columbus Park to watch the Columbus Day Parade then headed home.

Even though I lost to Tom in the Fantasy Football this week, I still had a great day. Lesley’s Drama Therapy students got to attend the National Drama Therapy conference and I thought of our GRA Madi as she is a drama therapy student
