We have been back in Cambridge for just over a week after the summer holidays and it is nice to officially be full-time residents of Cambridge Massachusetts. We will still go home for major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but next summer, we will be here and for the first time ever, be spending the Fourth of July and Mia’s birthday together.
Since we arrived before the Threshold core programs, we got to participate in the First Night Welcome Party in addition to the Second Night. It was a lot of fun and we got to see many of the undergraduate students. As an orientation leader, Rio was also there despite being a Threshold student. We even took a picture in the photo booth on the first night.

On Tuesday, the core program and Sami — who is the only Bridge student — arrived. It was orignally going to be Sami and Ashna, but Ashna didn’t come back. I was one of the ambassadors for moving students into the dorms. I even met several of the first-year students and their parents. One of them is from Raleigh North Carolina and lives 15 minutes away from Saumya. I also got to see Eliana and her mom again and we are hoping she can come to our apartment this year.
Classes began on Wednesday and we did ice breakers, which I joined after class. While outside I got several bug bites. We also began our Threshold classes on Wednesday night, which was a blast. I have been the main chef for the past week, but we are going to mix it up more.
Thursdays marked our first roommate anniversary and we went to Panera to celebrate. Mia got Mac and Cheese while I got chicken and wild rice soup. On Friday, Chloe came to visit and we went to Cambridge Common for dinner. Yesterday, Nathalie came and we went to Stoked and then walked to Honeycomb. We also had a Zoom call with friends of my grandmothers (Sally and Ted Jennings plus Todd Jackson who was the son of Bob and Irene, also friends). Dad joined to help facilitate the chat. We were missing Rachel Smith but hope she can “meet” Mia sometime” Everyone got to see the apartment and “meet” Mia briefly, although she was napping.

Today, I joined the First Church of Cambridge, which I will (try to) attend each Sunday. Later in the day, I met up with Eli and we went to the Museum of Fine Arts. I had previously been with Anoushka and Alex at the end of my first year, but it was crowded. Today, it was not as crowded and we hung together for about 2-3 hours. I really liked a lot of the Impressionism artists such as Van Gogh. After, we walked through the Back Bay Fens and took an Uber home. The area around Fenway Park was crowded because of a Red Sox Game.
