The Festive Season

We had a great Christmas and New Years. I have not been able to write much about it because I have been spending time with family so I am going to catch up.

We started our second bi-annual progressive Christmas while I was still in school. We met up with Auntie Erin, Uncle Jamey, Christopher and Drew for lunch in Needham. Ophie was looking for Mia, but she was back in DC. They have five stockings instead of four because one is Ophie’s (she has the one with a paw print).

On Wednesday after my last final, we drove to Albany and saw Rachel Smith, although we did not see Sally and Ted Jennings because Sally tested positive for Covid. She is doing okay but it is much better to air on the side of caution. We then continued to Rochester and spent a night at a hotel. The next morning, we met Uncle Stuart and his daughter Jennifer for breakfast, but were missing Aunt Martha, Cousin Anna, Cousin Matt, Matthew and Mosiah because of their busy schedules. We did get to call them on Christmas with everyone there.

We got back to Western Springs on Thursday and then Uncle Tom arrived on Friday. Dad and I delivered cringles to the Morrissey’s the Padgetts and the Stortzs, which was a lot of fun. We did a lot of cooking for Christmas including roll out cookies, even though we did not ice them this year. On Christmas Eve, we ordered Chinese food for Dad’s birthday and even got a FaceTime call from Mia. It would be fun if she came.

On Christmas morning, we woke up on the rather late side and began with breakfast followed by our stockings. I got a bunch of good foods and candies. When it comes to presents, I got a bunch of puzzles and clothing. The Brenners sent each of us something that Erin had knitted and we really enjoyed it. Instead of our usuals for dinner, we had Beef, Asparagus, Ambrosa, Salad, Bread and Carrot Soup.

On Wednesday, Dad and Tom went to a Comedy Show downtown and Mom and I stayed home because we are not as into comedy. The Between Christmas and New Years period was quite productive because I got my Drivers Ed evaluation, Psychiatrist visit and annual Physical done.

The past couple of hours, I was helping Mom make our lower level festive for the New Years. Mom and Dad went to a party store this morning to pick up the decorations and we all put them up together. We even have a tablecloth to put appitizers on.
