Hilton Head with NASCAR Style Driving, Whale Watching, Biking and Beach

We have just returned from Hilton Head, which was our Spring Break destination. The island is off the coast of South Carolina and like the Vineyard, there is no major airport, so we flew to Savannah. Unlike the Vineyard, we did not have to take a ferry to get to the island because there is a bridge connecting it to South Carolina.

It was March and it was further north so the weather was not what you would dream about for a beach vacation. We had temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s adn the ocean was cold.

Highlights from the trip

Go Karting: There was a Go-Kart coarse on the island and we booked a day for Dad and I to even participate in it. I was a little scared about going extremely fast so I would sometimes slow down but generally I was good at bypassing dad. I never bumped into people and followed the safety rules.

5 Day Pictures Challenge: Casey and I were both in South Carolina for Spring Break and we wanted to hear about each other’s impressions. So, I promised her that I would send her 3-5 pictures from each day (excluding the arrival and departure days).

Rental Bikes: We rode our bikes each day, and for many of the rides, I was the leader of the household. The sand down by the beach is so hard, that you can even bike on the beach. Unfortunately, we were staying about a 30 minute bike ride from the beach so that would mean we biked for up to an hour and a half each day. Sometimes, my legs got sore and I even had to take a tallonol on one of the nights.

Dolphin Cruise at Sunset: We booked a dolphin cruise to watch the sunset on one of our nights. I It was a cruise and the number one rule was that you should not miss the dolphins. I love the cruise, which was an hour and a half long. I enjoyed the view of the sea. At the end, you could see the sunset and the moonrise

Palm Trees: South Carolina is a tropical place and you can find palm trees everywhere. There were way more than I could imagine.
