Home and Progressive Journey

Since the dorms closed, I have been quite busy. We started the holiday season in Needham and hung with the Brenners. I enjoyed being able to see my godparents, which was a lot of fun. We had a stew with cuscus and the kids ate it with rice. We were missing Canyon and Charlotte but wish they were alive to be with us. We even got to open our Christmas presents at the dinner table.

On Sunday, we picked up the last parts of the storage unit in Albany and then continued the drive onward to Rochester. We got to see Stuart, Martha, Anna, Matt, Matthew, Mosiah and Minnie the dog. We ate a vegetarian version of lasagna and then we delivered Christmas presents, but decided to wait on opening them. We wanted to have less driving on day 2, so we did not stay with them, but rather continued a bit further west. We stayed at a hotel outside of Cleveland.

On Tuesday, we got my new eye glasses and we got our Christmas Tree. Due to a supply shortage, we could not get one at the Fuller’s Hardware Store in Hinsdale like we normally do. At night, we drove to Willowbrook and got to get a tree for free.

On Friday and Saturday, we celebrated Christmas and Dad’s birthday. We were missing Tom, who had a virus and also Bill, Marj, Grant, Pele, Marley and Coby who had died years before. We had our normal busden-noellel cake but I had a gluten free cupcake from Sweet Alis. On Saturday, we opened our stockings, presents and did the annual schavender hunt. Since we did not have Tom, there were no places that were off limit

On Saturday, we ate our Christmas dinner. We ate turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish sauce, stuffing and corn pudding. Unlike previous years, we made everything gluten free – – even the stuffing. I had bought a variety of goodies from Sweet Alis the other day. I even bought a box of cookies.

As a side note, I also went caroling for CCV, which was an activity Susanne provided last week. I was the only Threshold student, but my friend Lydia came along for.
